Sound Planning 2011 Installation Summary:
The year 2011 saw our A/V installation volume increase significantly, especially during the last quarter.
Contributing to this increase in the fall of the year was the completion of a large audio and video renovation at Temple Beth Sholom, Miami Beach Florida. This dome shaped sanctuary presented major challenges for sound reproduction and video presentation. We installed JBL Line Arrays in the sanctuary and Electro-Voice ZX-5 loudspeakers in the social hall. A Soundcraft mixing board was used in conjunction with Protech automatic mixing controllers for reduced feedback.
The biggest challenge for video projection was the requirement that we project directly on to the hemispherical dome ceiling without the use of a projection screen. The Sanyo 7000 ansi lumen projector with long throw lens had sufficient keystone correction for the task. Panasonic robotic cameras are used to project live images as well as DVD recording and internet streaming.
We were also awarded a “package” contract to provide complete audio and video upgrades for three Salvation Army Churches in South Florida. We received significant attention in several trade publications and websites for these professional audio and video systems.
Another audio installation of interest was the ”Arts Garage” which sounds like an auto repair shop owned by Arthur but is actually a performing arts center belonging to the City of Delray Beach.
Although Sound Planning specializes in fixed installation sound systems, we did three “rolling” audio installations for the sightseeing trains at Flamingo Gardens, Ft. Lauderdale.
“Stick microphones” also known as mini boom or micro boom microphones were part of our complete sound system installation at New Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Jasper Georgia. This job included a sanctuary sound system as well as an audio upgrade in the fellowship hall.
One of our sound systems for new construction was for the Palm Beach Chinese Christian Chapel. This included a Soundcraft 32 channel mixing board with Protech automixing control, Electro-Voice EVF speakers, subwoofers, 3 video projectors, internet cabling and door intercom / release system.
One of our most satisfying South Florida church sound systems was the JBL line array installation at the magnificent Trinity Cathedral in downtown Miami. (See separate page regarding installation.)
Another JBL line array project was done at the American Express building in Plantation, Florida. This added significant improvement to their teleconferencing and videoconferencing capability.
EV ZX-5 speakers were chosen for the central cluster installations at Evangel Temple and Central Christian Church, both in Miami. QSC amplifiers provided 2500 watts of power to each cluster.
Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest contracted Sound Planning to install video projection in their sanctuary. They were pleased with the tiny projectors and the screens that disappear completely when not in use.
Another “package” contract consisted of two Episcopal churches in Franklin, North Carolina. St Agnes and St. Cyprian’s installed similar sound reinforcement systems utilizing EV ZX-1 speakers and Soundcraft powered mixers. Sound Planning of Hiawassee, GA handled the project installation.
Sound Planning’s installers reached new heights in 2011 as we installed an Electro-Voice EVH loudspeaker by suspending it from a 55’ ceiling at First Congregational Church of Ft. Lauderdale.
In Northern Michigan, Church Sound Systems were installed for Glen Memorial Baptist in St. Ignace and East Jordan Presbyterian. Sound system tuning was done for Mackinaw Island Bible Church.
Gymnasium sound systems have always been part of our business as a professional sound contractor. Last year we were contacted for the sound system design and installation at Fannin County Middle School in Blue Ridge, GA. The audio system utilized EV ZX-1 Loudspeakers and wireless microphones.
